Sustainability is a family value at Lochmead Farms

Lochmead Farms is a family owned dairy that embodies the values of the Pacific Northwest through its commitment to the land and animals it stewards. The dairy's milk comes from Holstein cows that have been born and raised on the farm and where 45 percent of their food is grown.

The dairy is committed to a sustainable system that keeps the entire product life cycle close to home. The hazelnuts and peppermint oil used in their ice creams are grown on the farm.

Now the farm is collecting waste from its cows and turning it into renewable energy. The manure will generate enough biogas to run a 240 kW capacity engine generator.
