Congratulations to

Laughing Planet Cafe

Laughing Planet continues to prove that thinking about people and the planet makes good business sense. The Portland-based chain is about to add six new restaurants, including locations in Lake Oswego, Bend, Reno and Salt Lake City.

In more good news, The Nature Conservancy recently presented Laughing Planet with its Nature Plate award, which recognizes restaurants that promote healthy food and healthy environments.

So what's the secret to their success? The popular restaurant features affordable, quick and healthy whole food that is locally sourced. In fact, Laughing Planet develops meaningful relationships with farmers and food producers who share their values.  They also:
  • Lowered their energy consumption by using a centralized commissary model, where all food is prepared in one location and heated at restaurants using steam.
  • Developed innovative solutions to materials problems, such as reusing soda boxes as to-go containers for customers who order two or more burritos.
  • Often choose more expensive options for the sake of the environment, such as opting for fully compostable, cornstalk-based sauce cups.

Laughing Planet is a perfect example that it pays to care about the environment. And we are proud that they are a long-time Smart Energy customer. Way to go Laughing Planet!
